Wilshere is yet to feature this season after spending last term on loan at Bournemouth.

He was steady if unspectacular for the Cherries clocking up 27 Premier League appearances before breaking his ankle against Tottenham in April.

And he is yet to be involved in the four games Arsenal have played so far this season.

But he is set to be given a chance on Thursday against Cologne.

The Mirror report that Arsene Wenger will make drastic changes to his side following the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Wilshere could be joined by Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez in getting a run out as they bid for match fitness.

Arsenal face Chelsea on Sunday, and after losing two of four Premier League games so far, Wenger is not willing to risk his first choice side against the Germans.

And Petr Cech says it would be nice to challenge for a European trophy this season.

“You decide how to approach it,” he said.

“You go in it to win it, give yourself a chance to do it or make different priorities and then see how it goes.

"But I have to say that we are happy with the win, from tomorrow we can think about the Europa League.

“It’s one of the trophies that this club has not won since it became the Europa League, it could be one of the targets because it’s always nice to win a European trophy, regardless of which one it is.”
