Man Utd news: Stoke boss Mark Hughes faces stadium ban after Jose Mourinho push

STOKE CITY manager Mark Hughes is facing disciplinary action from the FA over his push on Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho refuses to shake Mark Hughes’ hand

Hughes pushed Mourinho in the second half of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at the bet365 Stadium after the Portuguese crossed into his technical area.

The Manchester United boss is said to have entered Hughes’ area to shout orders to his defenders as Stoke prepared for an attack.

As well as the push, Mourinho reportedly also felt that Hughes swore at him, which breaks rules put in place two years ago.

Premier League managers undertook a technical area code of conduct in 2015 in an effort to prevent aggression towards their opposite numbers.

And according to The Times, Hughes faces a stadium ban or a hefty fine if found guilty by the FA.

The FA will wait to see whether referee Neil Swarbrick or fourth official Stuart Attwell refer to the incident in their respective match reports before taking action.

Mourinho refused to shake hands with Hughes on two occasions following the final whistle - and the Potters boss accused him of sour grapes.

"I pushed him because he was in my technical area," Hughes explained.

"Maybe that's why he didn't want to shake my hand. Maybe it's because it has to be viewed as a negative result for him, coming to Stoke when everybody expected them to beat us.

"It's a negative. Sometimes managers of top-six clubs don't take negative results too kindly.

“Sometimes, because they're not used to having to take negative results, sometimes they react in the wrong way. Maybe he reacted in the wrong way.

"In fairness, I've got history with non-handshakes so maybe it's me! Who knows?"
