Chelsea spent around £200million on new players in the summer, including club-record signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in a £60m deal.

But Conte is said to be unhappy with the board’s efforts during the window, according to Daily Record journalist Castles.

Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast: ", as we've discussed several times, are nowhere near where Antonio Conte wants them to be as a squad.

"There are still huge divisions between Conte and the board which will have to be dealt with one way or another.

"So, you just have to look at the squad.

"They've lost the Premier League's best striker from their own mishandling of him in Diego Costa and replaced him with Alvaro Morata who is a good striker but Real Madrid were quite happy to let him to go.

"They've handed Nemanja Matic to Manchester United and replaced him with Danny Drinkwater.

"Drinkwater is a good player but is he on the level of Matic? No I don't think so."

Chelsea have made up for their poor start to the season - having lost to Arsenal in the Community Shield and to Burnley on the opening day - with three Premier League wins on the bounce.

And the Blues will look to add to their victories over Tottenham, Everton and Leicester when they kick start their Champions League campaign at home to Qarabag tonight.
