Pogba was named Manchester United captain for their Champions League opener against Basel.

But he limped off with a suspected hamstring injury after just 18 minutes, being replaced by Marouane Fellaini.

The 24-year-old could be seen clutching his hamstring as he made his way off the pitch.

But his substitution failed to deter United from making a promising start to their European campaign.

Goals from Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford handed Jose Mourinho’s side a 3-0 win with games against CSKA Moscow and Benfica to come.

However, it is yet unknown how long Pogba could be out of action.

Mourinho confirmed after the game the midfielder will certainly miss Sunday’s match at home to Everton (4pm) but went on to say he won’t cry over not being able to select Pogba.

“I don’t know, it looks like a hamstring injury.
