Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho sends injury message to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has told Zlatan Ibrahimovic to remain patient as he looks to return to action as soon as possible.

Ibrahimovic is currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury and recently posted a video of himself running on the treadmill with the caption: "Tell Jose I'm coming".

The 35-year-old signed a one-year-deal with United towards the end of the transfer window and is expected to return in the new year.

In his absence, United have been free-scoring with Romelu Lukaku already on six goals in as many appearances.

While Marcus Rashford took his goal tally for the season to three in his Champions League debut in United‘s 3-0 defeat of Basel yesterday.

And Mourinho says Ibrahimovic doesn't need to rush his rehabilitation.

Mourinho said: "I think we need him. We wait for him, but with patience.

"He has to be patient.

"He doesn't have to be emotional and he doesn't have to try to make crazy things to improve [recover] quicker in his mind.

"Because I know that his desire is to improve quicker. So, calm – [take things] step by step.
