Antonio Conte will not guarantee starts for Eden Hazard or Gary Cahill

Hazard is yet to start for Chelsea this season as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury he picked up on Belgium duty in June.

He has come off the bench in the last two outings against Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday and at Leicester last Saturday.

While Blues captain Cahill, who started against Qarabag, has not featured in the Premier League since his straight red card against Burnley on the opening game of the season.

And despite the duo’s value to the team, Conte is refusing to guarantee Hazard and Cahill a starting role against Arsenal.

The Chelsea manager said in his pre-match press conference: “About Eden, he is improving and to have this type of patience is paying off.

I have to make decision for the team and the best decision for the players

“He is very close to be totally fit and to continue in this way.

"I have to make decision for the team and the best decision for the players.

“I think he is improving a lot and is very close to being 100 per cent.

“For Gary he came back against Qarabag, he played very well with a good performance. I am pleased for him. I have another day to reflect and make the best decision for Sunday.”
