ANDER HERRERA is expected to sign a new Manchester United contract before the end of the year, according to reports.

Herrera has less than a year left on his current deal but hasn’t reached an agreement with Manchester United yet.

The Spain midfielder was snubbed by manager Jose Mourinho when selecting a replacement for the injured Paul Pogba in yesterday’s 4-0 win.

Mourinho opted to play Marouane Fellaini with Herrera coming on as a second-half substitute.

But the United boss has been relaxed about the contract situation at the club despite the likes of Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw having just a season left on their current deals.

He said: "When the club has a one-year option it means they have one more year of contract so nobody is in the last year.

"The only player, two players are Zlatan and Carrick. Two players at the end of the season who are going to sit, analyse what they did and what they want to do.

"All the other players are under the club control until end of the 2018-19 season.

Ander Herrera has played a bit-part role this season

"We are speaking about June [20]19. No player ends his contract.”

The Manchester Evening News describe Herrera as ‘calm’ and in ‘no rush’ to sign an extension.

Nevertheless, the report states the 28-year-old is likely to sign a deal before December which will give him a pay rise after he was player of the year last season.
