Adrien Silva's career is in limbo after deadline day

The Portugal international has been training in Leicester since transfer deadline day, when Leicester missed the deadline to submit paperwork to FIFA by 14 seconds.

But he has now returned home to be with his pregnant wife while the club continue formulating their appeal against FIFA’s refusal to rubber-stamp his move from Sporting Lisbon.

Sporting claim the deal was completed and Leicester must pay the first chunk of the £27m fee but the Foxes have so far refused to respond.

Boss Craig Shakespeare admits the 28-year-old is frustrated, especially as he is eyeing a place in Portugal’s team at next summer’s World Cup.

“The conversations I’ve had with him so far are very brief,” said Shakespeare.

“Of course in the back of his mind the World Cup will be concern.

"But I think he is more interested in finding the right solution for here and now.

“He has gone back to Portugal for the time being. He is an expectant father so he spent a bit of time with his family at the weekend.

“Then we will see what the process brings from now on.”
