Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals his plan for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

JURGEN KLOPP says he doesn’t care where Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain plays in his first start for Liverpool in their Carabao Cup clash with Leicester City.

“I don’t care about his [Oxlade-Chamberlain’s] best position,” Klopp said before kick-off at the King Power Stadium.

“I don’t want to see him always in a front three or always on one wing.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected a move to Chelsea in the summer, over fears that he would be shoehorned into a wing-back role.

But it appears that Klopp sees the England international as a more attacking weapon in his armoury of creative players.

“It’s all football. But you still have to be able to defend,” he added.

“You have to be very flexile in all these positions.

“But yes, I’m very excited about his future.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was desperate to keep the former Southampton man at the Emirates, but Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down a £180,000 per week contract offer to move to Anfield.

The 24-year-old then became the first player in Premier League history to lose consecutive games 4-0 and 5-0 after his switch to Merseyside.
