Arsenal news: Mesut Ozil reveals injury update ahead of Carabao Cup tie v Doncaster

MESUT OZIL has updated Arsenal fans about his recovery from injury.

The German midfielder missed the goalless draw away to Chelsea on Sunday due to an inflamed knee.

Ozil has routinely come under fire from fans over his perceived work rate.

His team-mate Aaron Ramsey even hinted the Gunners looked better without Ozil, citing a sense of ‘togetherness’ within the side.

understands Ozil will not be involved in the Carabao Cup third round tie against Doncaster tomorrow (7.45pm).

After the cup tie, Arsenal are next in action against West Brom on Monday (8pm).

It is thought Ozil could be involved in some point, although it is unclear whether or not he will start.

And the 28-year-old took to Instagram to give the fans a progress check on his recovery.

“Good news: I’m back training on the pitch," Ozil wrote.

"As you might have heard I’m suffering from a minor inflammation of my knee.

"Feeling better each day now and hope to be back playing very soon!"

When asked about how the transformation in performance at Stamford Bridge compared to the hammering they took at Anfield, Wenger said: “It was about mentality and a response from our last away game.
