Arsenal made heavy weather of seeing off League One side Doncaster, with Theo Walcott scoring the only goal at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger made 11 changes from the side that drew at Chelsea on Sunday but included the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud in a team that still boasted eight full internationals.

But the Arsenal manager admits he was still worried Doncaster would punish the Gunners’ wastefulness in front of goal - having hit the target just seven times in 27 attempts.

Wenger said after the win: "Yes that was hard work, credit to Doncaster, they kept going.

I was concerned, they looked dangerous

“We started well in the first 35 minutes but we decreased slowly.

"We lost our collective game and couldn't score the second goal, it became more difficult.

“We wanted to score goals we were just lacking. It was a typical cup game. I was concerned, they looked dangerous."

Arsenal will go up against Championship outfit Norwich at the Emirates in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
