Arsenal took all three points against West Brom at the Emirates thanks to an Alexandre Lacazette double which kept the Gunners’ 100 per cent home record intact.

But Baggies boss Tony Pulis was left fuming after a foul on Rodriguez in the penalty area went unpunished by referee Bobby Madley, after just eight minutes.

Saints striker Rodriguez managed to spring back to his feet after Shkodran Mustafi’s sliding tackle, but Petr Cech superbly tipped his shot onto the far post.

Arsenal then went ahead when an Alexis Sanchez free-kick came back off the crossbar and Lacazette was perfectly positioned to nod home - after Mohamed Elneny was fouled by Jonny Evans.

Madley did point to the spot in the second-half as Aaron Ramsey’s sinking run into the area which cynically ended by Allan Nyom’s challenge.

Lacazette stepped up and dispatched the penalty low to Ben Foster’s left to take his tally to four Premier League goals for the season.

But West Brom forward Jay Rodriguez, speaking to Sky Sports on the penalty that wasn’t given, said: "I felt contact. I went down and expected the foul to be given but it wasn't so I got back up.

“I wasn't injured or hurt. For me it was a penalty, sometimes you get them sometimes you don't.

"I wouldn't be rolling around trying to get free-kicks. It is one of them things but it is just difficult because if you do get that goal, 1-0 up it changes the game.

"If I have the chance to score and see it I am not going to stay down and shy away from it. You always have a conversation with the ref, we just talked. It was just one of those things.

"I thought it was in, it was a great save from the lad. The lads have worked extremely hard.

“We played really well, especially in the first half. We take those chances and are one or 2-0 up."

Former Arsenal defender and BBC Radio 5 live pundit Martin Keown told listeners that the Baggies should "definitely" have had a penalty and called the Evans foul on Elneny "doubtful".

Lacazette, who was signed from Lyon in the summer, became the first Arsenal player to score in his first three home league appearances for the club in 29 years.

Arsenal have now scored in all 23 of their Premier League meetings with West Brom, the best such 100 per cent record in the division.
