Sanchez didn't cheat - Parlour

17.45: Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez did not cheat during the 2-0 win over West Brom last night, according to Ray Parlour.

Parlour says it is the modern way for footballers to go down easily and says Baggies manager Tony Pulis should have no complaints about Sanchez.

“You talk about people going over very quickly, this is the normal game now,” Parlour said on talkSPORT.

“This is what everybody does. Any sort of touch on them they go down on the floor.

“I don’t think you can complain on that one, the free kicks.”

Sanchez banter

14:10: Chuba Akpom says Arsenal players do give Alexis Sanchez banter about his failed move to Manchester City on transfer deadline day this summer.

"We do banter about it to be fair," Akpom told the Daily Star.

“But at the end of the day, he’s still at Arsenal. Everyone is happy, the fans are happy and he’s happy.

“I think with a player like Sanchez he just blocks it out because all he wants to do is play football," the forward, who is of Nigerian descent, continued.

“He’s so focused on football, he blocks out a lot of negativity and transfer rumours.”

Aguero to Arsenal ‘no surprise’

10:35: Arsenal signing Sergio Aguero from Manchester City in January would not be a surprise.

That is according to BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce, who made the bold claim after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Brom last night.

Speaking to Martin Keown and Mark Chapman on BBC Radio 5 Live, Pearce claimed such deals going through in the January transfer window could happen.

He said: "I don’t think it’s a marriage made in heaven, this - Aguero and Pep [Guardiola] - I really don’t.

"This [criticism of work-rate] has happened too often. I think Aguero is a sensational player. One of the best I’ve ever seen.

"He [Guardiola] still wants Sanchez, that could happen in January. Highly probable that will happen in January.

"And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Aguero comes here [Arsenal].

"It was mooted in the summer, wouldn’t surprise me at all."

Leeds want Merida

08:00: Leeds are lining up a move for former Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida.

Leeds have enjoyed a blistering start to the season, currently sitting joing-top of the Championship alongside Wolves and Cardiff.

But Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is already looking to improve his side in the January transfer window.

And the MailOnline say Leeds are following Merida’s progress at Osasuna and have sent scouts to watch him in action this season.

Merida shot to prominence at Arsenal after being tipped to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Cesc Fabregas after leaving Barcelona for London.

Arsene Wenger once described the Spaniard as “an absolutely amazing player” but he has had a journeyman-like career after leaving Atletico Madrid in 2012.

Aaron Ramsey praises Alexandre Lacazette

05:10: Aaron Ramsey has heaped praise on Alexandre Lacazette for his impressive performance against West Brom last night.

Lacazette, 26, scored twice to help Arsenal beat West Brom 2-0 at the Emirates.

And Ramsey was in awe of his team-mate’s display.

"Alexandre Lacazette has made a fantastic start," Ramsey said.

"He is a fantastic player and we are lucky to have him."

Youri Tielemans rejection

04:40: Youri Tielemans has revealed he chose Monaco over Arsenal, because he would have more chance of getting regular first-team football.

The former Anderlecht star was on the Gunners’ radar, but instead completed a switch to Ligue 1.

Explaining his decision, he told Belgian paper Het Laatste Nieuws: “Monaco was just the best step for me. I knew that I could secure a place in the midfield because the vice-president had entrusted me with what he was planning.

“Could I have gone to the Premier League? Yes, but Monaco was the first and most concrete team.

“I knew there was not much going on with Arsenal's interest. The board wanted to keep the players they had together to finish higher in the Premier League.”
