Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho’s side look unstoppable… I would prefer four at back - Owen

MANCHESTER UNITED are looking unstoppable at the moment, but the defence isn’t quite what it should be.

Jose Mourinho saw his side thrash CSKA Moscow 4-1

That is the verdict of former United and striker-turned-pundit Michael Owen.

United maintained their unbeaten start to their Champions League campaign by thrashing CSKA Moscow 4-1 away.

Romelu Lukaku helped himself to two, while Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitarayan also got on the scoresheet.

The goals have been flowing for United, and they have scored 17 times in six Premier League games.

And BT Sport pundit Owen insists he has detected a noticeable difference in United’s brand of football this season.

Jose Mourinho: The three at the back tactic is wrong

There’s a sea change. I’m feeling it watching them

“There’s a sea change. I’m feeling it watching them,” Owen told BT Sport.

“We followed United when they won the Europa League last season.

“Even though they won that, I still didn’t look at them and think ‘wow they can blow any team away’.

“They always only scored one a lot of the time.

“It always felt the opposing team had a chance against them.

Michael Owen thinks Manchester United should play four at the back

“But this season, they are scoring too many goals and they look so solid.”

While Owen thinks United look more impregnable, he would prefer to see four played at the back, as United lined up in a 3-4-3 formation in Russia.

“We have mentioned the goalkeeper - he’s unbelievable," he added.

“I’m not sure about the three at the back - I think they look a lot better with four.

“The defence was never going to get tested against CSKA Moscow because they were so dominant.

“I think I prefer the four, but they look unstoppable at the moment.”
