ANTHONY MARTIAL has been described as terrifying to play against by his Manchester United teammate Chris Smalling.

Anthony Martial was unstoppable last night against CSKA Moscow

The French winger put in an outstanding performance last night against CSKA Moscow, and was subsequently voted Man of the Match.

The winger scored once and provided two assists, but was surprisingly omitted from the French squad today by Didier Deschamps.

And Smalling reckons Martial has been in fine form for a lot longer than just last night.

“Right from pre-season, Anthony’s been leading the way in training,” the England international told MUTV.

“He’s terrifying one-v-one, as we’ve seen tonight, I’m glad he’s on my team.”

Smalling was certainly pleased with United’s Champions League display, adding that he felt it was one of their best performances this season.

“I think that’s as dominant as we have been,’ he said.

“Scoring those goals in the first half, it was probably the best first half we have played all season.

“To come here with this atmosphere, in arguably one of our toughest games in the group, I think it is a true testament to our team.”

Martial took to social media to express himself after the 4-1 win in the Russian capital.

“Thanks God for this victory and thanks to the fans that travelled tonight,“ the 24-year-old wrote on his official Twitter account.

Jose Mourinho’s side could go top of the Premier League on Saturday (15:00), as they welcome a struggling Crystal Palace side to Old Trafford.

Manchester City are currently ahead of the Red Devils on goal difference, but they don’t play Chelsea until later that day (17:30).
