Real Madrid news: Ronaldo will use Man Utd to be paid more than Messi and Neymar

CRISTIANO RONALDO is seeking to be paid more money than Lionel Messi and Neymar in his new Real Madrid contract.

The Portuguese superstar signed a new contract in November worth around £365,000-a-week but has since helped the club win La Liga, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

And he is also in the midst of court proceedings over alleged tax evasion.

A host of Madrid players including Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Marco Asensio and Raphael Varane have all committed their long-term futures to the Bernabeu in recent days.

Ronaldo put pressure on Florentino Perez this week by directing questions about a new deal to the Real Madrid president.

Real Madrid have promised him they will give Cristiano Ronaldo a new contract and they are talking

He said: "I am happy, things happen in a natural way.

“That is a better question maybe for the president -- he would know better than me how to answer."

Neymar now earns £537,000 following his £198million move to Paris Saint Germain while Messi will reportedly receive around £500,000 when he signs a new Barcelona deal.

And La Liga expert Guillem Balague believes Ronaldo wants to be paid more than the attacking and will apply pressure on Madrid with links to Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants a new Real Madrid contract

He told Sky Sports: “What is happening is the following. He wants a new contract but not just to equal Messi and Neymar (25m euros net plus) but also because he might have to pay 30m euros to the Spanish tax man.

“A sign on fee would sort that out. Real Madrid has promised him they will give him a new contract and they are talking.

“So expect a suggestion or two of him going to United as a way to put Real under pressure.”
