Huddersfield vs Tottenham updates

That’s it from us today. An easy win for Spurs and questions raised for Huddersfield to answer.

GOAL! Sissoko scrapes home a fourth

90: Very little has happened in this second half as both teams seem to make do with the result.

But Sissoko isn’t having it. He scrambled home via a deflection for 4-0.

60: It’s been a fairly meek second half so far. Tottenham have seen a couple of chances go begging, while Dele Alli was booked for diving in the box.

Huddersfield have offered every little. May as well reserve energies for another day.

HT: That half was all about Harry Kane. The England striker bagged two good goals to take his tally for club and country in September to 13. Town have had the odd pop shot going forward but nothing to scare Spurs. This game is as good as won and Mauricio Pochettino may make changes early in this half.

43: CROSSBAR! Finally Town have something to shout about. Depoitre gets a little room on the break and has a go from distance. It rattles Lloris' crossbar and soars into the stands.

GOAL! HARRY KANE GETS HIS SECOND!

24: Wow. This is marvellous. Harry Kane receives the ball from a throw-in, turns to beat two men who have closed his down, runs across the edge of the box and curls in with his left foot before a third man can reach him. Delightful stuff.

20: CLOSE! Lossl is having a bit of a rocky one today. He gets the ball back from his defence but his first touch is poor. Kane dives in, steals it off the goalkeeper but can’t find an angle to squeeze home.

GOAL! Spurs rip through Huddersfield once again!

16: Ben Davies finishes off a lovely move through the Spurs team. Kane drops deep and turns to edge through Christian Eriksen. The Dane slips in Davies on the left who dinks over Lossl. 2-0.

GOAL! Harry Kane puts Tottenham ahead!

9: Lossl punts forward but Trippier heads it straight back to trigger a counter attack. Kane has all the time and space in the world to clip into the near post for 1-0. Clinical.

2: Spurs have already forced two corners but the set-pieces come to nothing. Huddersfield are yet to get a proper foot on the ball. Zanka munches Kane - a little kick to make sure the striker knows he’s around.

Mathias Zanka vs Harry Kane

This could be the one-on-one clash that decides this match.

Kane has scored 11 goals for club and country in September. But Zanka has been key to Huddersfield’s tight defensive performances this season.

Zanka alongside Christopher Schindler are a solid centre-back pairing. Together they will be tasked with handling Kane and will hope their midfielders shut off the supply lines.

They are both strong on the ball as well. Town’s attacks start not from lumping it forward but from patient football. That’s what got them promoted and that’s their best chance of keeping them in the top flight.

Kane’s only red card

As Sky Sports have just highlighted, Harry Kane has faced Huddersfield before.

The England striker was on loan at Leyton Orient and scored during a 2-2 draw against Town back in February 2011.

But Kane was also sent off for two bookable offences on his John Smith’s Stadium bow.

Kane went on to score just once more for Orient in League One before heading back to Spurs.

On the move

Spurs can leapfrog Chelsea into third place in the Premier League with a win in West Yorkshire today.

It would also see them pull clear of Liverpool and the Premier League’s surprise package so far, Watford.

However, with Chelsea facing Manchester City later today, Spurs may end up back where they started by the close of play.

As for Huddersfield, they sit eighth in the table and can pass Spurs into fourth place with a win.

Few Town fans would have expected such a strong start to the season. Can it continue?

Welcome

Welcome to our live coverage of Huddersfield vs Tottenham. Or, to save typing that out every five minutes, Town vs Spurs.

Town are in buoyant mood despite their last of wins in recent weeks. Manager David Wagner knows every point is crucial and a draw today would be a big boost towards their goal of 40 points.

As for Spurs, they’re already playing catch-up in the Premier League title race.

Three points away from Wembley would be warmly received by boss Mauricio Pochettino.
