Man Utd news: Romelu Lukaku not one of Premier League’s top three strikers - Paul Mariner

MANCHESTER UNITED star Romelu Lukaku is NOT one of the Premier League’s top three strikers, according to pundit Paul Mariner.

Carragher: Kane or Lukaku could win the Golden Boot award

Lukaku joined Manchester United from Everton for an initial fee of £75million in the summer.

His Old Trafford career has started with a bang, as he currently sits top of the scoring charts in the top-flight with seven goals.

However, Mariner says Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Chelsea’s summer-signing Alvaro Morata are all better frontmen than the Belgium international.

“If you think about a No 9 and what his role is, I just think the three lads that I picked, Morata, Kane and Aguero, I just think their hold-up play is better,” the former Arsenal man said on ESPN FC.

I don’t think Lukaku is as clinical a finisher as the other three lads

Paul Mariner on Man Utd star Romelu Lukaku

“There’s no doubts that Lukaku is going to score a lot of goals at Manchester United with the service that comes into the box.

“But I don’t think he is as clinical a finisher as the other three lads.”

Mariner chose Aguero as the Premier League's No 1 striker and says he is one of the best in the world.

“I think what he’s done this season is I think he’s added to his game,” Mariner added.

“His ratio from chances to goals is very, very high.

“What he’s also added is that he’s added link-up play to that and some play where he’s a little unselfish.

“I just feel he is one of the best in the world.”
