Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini proving worth to Jose Mourinho, says Ryan Giggs

Fellaini joined Manchester United from Everton in a £27.5million deal in the summer of 2013, but failed to impress under both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

But the Belgian powerhouse has become a key player at Old Trafford since the arrival of Jose Mourinho last year.

And Giggs believes the 29-year-old midfielder has shown how vital he is for Mourinho, especially since the injury to Paul Pogba last month.

Fellaini has bagged four goals in his eight appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Giggs told Sky Sports: ”Marouane Fellaini has really proved his importance, stepping in for Paul Pogba.

“He has scored important goals, as he did at Everton, and I'm really pleased for him after taking a lot of stick over the years.

"I've worked with him and he's a great lad to train because he does exactly what you want, and hasn't let the fans bother him because he's always had the support of the players and the coaches.

"He is effective, knows his strengths and limitations.

“And he's somebody who Jose [Mourinho] has put a lot of faith in and he has repaid that with some important goals."
