Man Utd News: Jose Mourinho has given up on Ivan Perisic because of Anthony Martial

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has given up on Ivan Perisic because of the form of Anthony Martial, reports say.

Man Utd's Martial slices through CSKA defence

Manchester United attempted to sign Perisic from Inter Milan this summer, with Mourinho hellbent on landing a winger.

However, the Serie A giants’ demands ultimately forced the Red Devils to give up on a deal.

Perisic has since gone on to sign a new contract at Inter, with his goals and assists helping the San Siro outfit reach third in the league table.

And Transfer Market Web say Mourinho is no longer interested in a transfer, with the form of Martial causing him to reconsider.

The France international was one of United’s biggest under performers last term.

He managed just eight goals across all competitions, struggling following the departure of former manager Louis van Gaal.

But Martial has cut a reborn figure so far this season, managing five goals and six assists from just nine games.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry thinks the youngster has the potential to be one the best players in the world.

“Anthony Martial is a far better player than I was at that age,” said Henry.

“He can become a world-class player.”

Martial has also just been voted the club’s player of the month for September.

And that prize comes in a month where Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford also hit the goal trail.
