Reports surfaced on Thursday that Shelvey had broken a finger on his left hand in training after X-rays revealed the damage.

The midfielder now has his left arm in a cast, but it was unknown how he sustained the injury.

However, The Sun claim the damage was done as a result of a training-ground bust-up between two his team-mates.

It is said Lascelles and Diame were at each other’s throats during a fiery session at at the club’s Darsley Park centre.

Both were firing insults at each other with club captain Lascalles repeatedly calling Diame “lazy”.
