Man Utd News: Zlatan Ibrahimovic could return THIS MONTH despite Arsenal claims

MANCHESTER UNITED could see the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this month, according to reports.

Ibrahimovic's wonder goal for Sweden against England

Ibrahimovic has been out of action since damaging his knee during Manchester United’s 2-1 Europa League win over Anderlecht back in April.

The 36-year-old was initially released but, after leaving club medics stunned his his powers of recovery, the Red Devils opted to hand him a new contract.

Yesterday, reports suggested that Ibrahimovic may be fit and ready to start the club’s Premier League clash with Arsenal in December.

But The Sun claim that Zlatan Ibrahimovic may return this month in what would surely be one of the biggest shocks of the season.

So serious was the Swede’s injury that many feared for his career.

But Zlatan, never one to shy away from a challenge, is sensationally closing in on full fitness.

The Sun say Ibrahimovic is two to three weeks away from making a return - in news that will boost Jose Mourinho.

The 54-year-old has always been coy on when Ibrahimovic would be returning.

And he did admit last month that he would not risk dropping top scorer Romelu Lukaku until the veteran made his comeback.

"Without Zlatan we cannot rotate the striker, especially because Marcus Rashford is playing also in other positions," Mourinho said.

"So until the moment we have Zlatan we cannot think about giving rest to our No. 9, the same way we give in other positions. We cannot do that."

In August, Mourinho also made it clear Ibrahimovic would not have an easy route back to the first team.

“Zlatan knows me, and he knows that I play the players that I think are the best for the team. I always did it,” he said.

“So if he comes here and he proves he is the best, he plays. If the other ones don’t give him a chance to prove that, that’s life.”
