Martial enjoyed a stunning debut campaign at Manchester United after his big-money move from Monaco in 2015, but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

He’s started just four games across all competitions this season, but has still impressed with five goals and six assists.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the 22-year-old over the weekend, with Arsene Wenger said to be a long-term admirer.

The Gunners manager has reportedly identified Martial as the ideal replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

But the Manchester Evening News claims Martial is ‘very content’ at Old Trafford and is not planning on leaving the Red Devils anytime soon.

Despite Martial playing just a bit-part role over the past two seasons, Mourinho has been full of praise for the France international.

"I see a great improvement in the person, in the mood, in the face, in the body language," Mourinho said of Martial last month.

"If you want just a word, in the happiness. He's a happy guy, he’s working extremely well. He starts matches, he tries to do well.

"He goes from the bench, even if it is for 10 minutes like in the last match at home, he tries to enjoy and try to give something in these extra minutes.

“I am very pleased with his attitude overall and then it’s easier to play well."
