Sanchez came close to joining Man City after Arsenal agreed to sell him on the condition they find a replacement in time.

But the deal fell through when Arsenal were unable to convince Thomas Lemar to join from Monaco and meant Sanchez was forced to stay at the Emirates, at least until January.

The Chilean has been a frustrated figure for Arsenal at times this season with critics believing it to be due to his disappointment at not leaving.

Some players in the Arsenal squad feel Sanchez should leave due to the 'detrimental' effect his situation has had on the team.

But the Telegraph are now reporting Sanchez may finally get his wish and reunite with City boss Pep Guardiola in the new year.

The report says Guardiola has not given up on signing Sanchez and the Premier League leaders will make a cash offer in January.

It is claimed the bid will be less than the £60million offer City made in August.
