Man City star Sergio Aguero involved in car crash in Amsterdam

The Manchester City striker told Argentine news station TyC Sports that if he was not wearing a seatbelt then the injuries could have been substantially worse.

Aguero was in the Netherlands when the taxi he was traveling in crashed into a pillar.

The 29-year-old was fortunate to suffer only one broken rib, which was supposed to keep him out for a number of weeks.

Aguero missed City’s impressive 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, along with Argentina’s crucial world-cup qualifier with Ecuador.

But he made a surprise return to training this week, just 11 days after the horrific crash.

The forward is desperate to continue his form which has seen him net seven times already this season.

His desperation even led to him asking doctors if he could play in the match against the Premier League champions.

"When I got to the hospital I asked the doctor if I could play for City on the Saturday. He said, 'I don't believe so.’” Aguero said.

"I took a moment to think and realised it's thanks to wearing a seatbelt that I'm able to talk about this at all."

It is unclear if Aguero will be fit enough to play against Stoke City on Saturday.

If not, Brazilian Gabriel Jesus is likely to lead the line, fresh from netting two goals for his national side in their 3-0 win against Chile.
