PEP GUARDIOLA has claimed Manchester City can do better despite thrashing Stoke City 7-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola believes City still have more in the tank

Goals from Raheem Sterling, David Silva, Fernandinho, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and a Gabriel Jesus brace lifted City to two points ahead of rivals Manchester United at the top of the table.

But the blues conceded two goals either side of half-time from name Mame Biram Diouf and a Kyle Walker own goal.

And although the Spaniard insisted that his side can do better, he believes it is the best performance since he joined the club.

"We can always do better but I cannot deny that today was the best performance since I arrived here," Guardiola said.

Guardiola also reserved special praise for Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian provided two assists and was named man-of-the-match for his part in securing the three points.

De Bruyne was making his his 100th appearance for the Blues and produced a stunning 'no-look' passin the build up to Sterling's goal which drew praise from his boss.

He said: "De Bruyne is a guy that is so dynamic and can control the game. He is a big talent and made a good performance today."
