Jose Mourinho thinks Paul Pogba hates playing alongside Blaise Matuidi

Paul Pogba re-joined Manchester United last summer for £89million and has taken time to readjust to life in the Premier League.

His first season under Jose Mourinho was nothing spectacular but he has since become a key player for the Red Devils - made all the more obvious by his recent absence through injury.

Mourinho has claimed the secret to getting the most out of the 24-year-old is finding a partner to compliment him in the centre of the park.

And the United boss feels this something France boss Didier Deschamps has failed to do, claiming his partnership with Blaise Matuidi is flawed.

When quizzed about Pogba on French TV station telefoot, Mourinho said: "He can make football history. He has talent.

"We have the balance in midfield to occupy space better [this season].

"With Matuidi [in the France team], I think he isn’t happy."

Pogba is currently out injured with a hamstring problem he picked up in the Champions League against Basel last month.

The initial prognosis was he could be out for up to 12 weeks but the Red Devils are hopeful he will be fit to face Swansea in the Carabao Cup later this month.

He could also feature for France in the November international break, however, Mourinho would not be drawn out over a return date.

"I do not know when he will be back but it will not be tomorrow," he added.

Pogba has made six appearances in all competitions this term for United, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
