Arsenal News: Gunners forced to lower Mesut Ozil asking price with Man Utd keen

ARSENAL have been forced to lower their asking price for Mesut Ozil because Manchester United are among the clubs currently reluctant to sign him in January.

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil shows off skills ahead of possible comeback

Ozil looks destined to leave Arsenal, having endured a nightmare start to the new Premier League season.

The World Cup winner has looked a far cry from his usual silky self, registering no assists so far.

His contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season and, as a result, the Gunners could be forced to sell him in January.

Manchester United are being tipped to pounce with Jose Mourinho keen to secure a reunion with Ozil, who he managed at Real Madrid.

And Transfer Market Web say Arsenal are now being forced to lower their asking price to get him off the books in the New Year.

It is said that United, as well as Fenerbahce and Inter Milan, are currently reluctant to break the bank for the Germany international.

And, so keen are Arsenal to get rid of him, TMW says they are willing to accept a bid of just £26million for his services.

Ozil’s drab displays have drawn criticism from journalists, fans and pundits so far.

Arsenal News: Mesut Ozil could join Manchester United in January

Former Arsenal star Martin Keown ripped into the 29-year-old after Arsenal lost 2-1 to Watford on Saturday night.

“I feel he (Ozil) was at fault for the late goal conceded,” he told BT Sport.

“I don't know whether there is a future for him now in this Arsenal team and I know it looks like I'm coming for him all the time but he really should have finished the game off.

“The top players are ruthless and they don't play for fun. I don't know if he's got that ruthlessness in his make-up. That ball has got to be in the back of the net (speaking on missed chance).

Arsenal News: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admires Mesut Ozil

“That should be game over, Arsenal have won the game. People might think i'm coming for him but you've got to be clinical in those situations. Is he really bothered there?

“He's just missed an opportunity to win the game for Arsenal and everything that happens afterwards wouldn't have happened.

"I don't know if he cares enough or not but he's certainly not ruthless enough.

“There's only one outcome isn't there? When it comes to January surely Ozil will be gone.”
