Liverpool went into tonight's clash knowing they needed a crucial three points to life some of the doom and gloom mood that has engulfed Merseyside.

And Jurgen Klopp got just the result he wanted.

Liverpool were at their breathtaking best, with Roberto Firmino (2), Philippe Coutinho, Salah (2), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold finding the net.

And, speaking after the game, Salah said their recent blip in form was merely down to bad luck.

"I think it was a great game, we did good, it was an important result for us and we have to keep looking forward," he said.

"The team did good, we had a good result and that is the most important thing.

"I'm very happy, now we have to concentrate on improving the result in the Premier League and keep on moving forward.

"We had bad luck in the last three or four games. Everyone was confident a good result was coming."

Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, praised his Liverpool team-mates.

"I think we started with the right intensity, the manager said it would be tough," the former Arseal star said.

"He was still pushing for us to do better at half time.

"I feel like every week we have a lot of goals in us, but it just hasn’t clicked. But if we keep creating chances they will come off."
