Liverpool's Brooks blow

22:39: Sheffield United will not be selling Liverpool target David Brooks in the January transfer window.

Brooks, 20, put pen to paper on a four-year deal earlier this week amid interest from the Reds.

Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “There is no buy-out clause in the contract.

Liverpool training

20:15: Liverpool have been training ahead of their clash with Tottenham this weekend.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has indicated captain Jordan Henderson will be recalled to the squad after he was rested for the Reds Champions League clash with Maribor in midweek.

And the Anfield skipper looked sharp in training at Melwood on Friday.

Stand by Klopp

17:05: Owen Hargreaves says Liverpool must keep faith in Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp failed to bring in adequate strength in defence during the summer transfer window.

And their weaknesses at the back have been evident.

Liverpool are already nine points off the leaders in the title race.

But Hargreaves reckons Klopp will come good.

“The thing is the Premier League is so much more competitive than the Bundesliga. Liverpool attacking wise are up there with anyone,” he exclusively told Express Sport.

“But with Klopp give him time and with money he can try to address these problems.

“With Van Dijk and Keita this summer, he knows as well. I hope they stay together. It’s a special relationship there and they seem to suit each other.”

Klopp to Bayern Munich won't happen

16:50: Bayern Munich have no chance of prising Jurgen Klopp away from Liverpool, says former Bundesliga star Owen Hargreaves.

Bayern Munich are in search of a long-term replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked last month.

Klopp’s name has been mooted as a possible appointment come the end of the season, along with another former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, and Hoffenheim’s 30-year-old boss Julian Nagelsmann.

But BT Sport pundit Hargreaves doubts Klopp would go for the job… because he is married to the Liverpool project.

“That was a conversation point back when, Klopp and Bayern Munich,” Hargreaves exclusively told Express Sport.

“I just look at Klopp and Liverpool and the fan base - they’re a match made it heaven. They really are.

“He’s built something, it’s growing there. It takes time as it took time with Dortmund.”

Klopp preparing for Spurs

16:24: Jurgen Klopp hopes Liverpool can follow up their 7-0 win over Maribor in midweek with a strong performance against Tottenham.

“Yes, we scored seven goals but the best thing about the whole game was our counter-pressing. It was outstanding,” Klopp said.

“Winning the ball back earlier with counter-pressing keeps you in a much better position in the pitch. It’s energy saving because you don’t have to run long distances.

“I was very happy about this. Am I 100% sure we will do the same again? Not yet but I am open for the proof.

“It will be key again against Tottenham – a fantastic, top team.”

Barca back for Coutinho

09.25: Barcelona are set to make a final attempt to sign Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Mundo Deportivo claims agent Kia Joorabchian has been appointed as an intermediary between the two sides.

And Barca plan to submit an offer similar to their final bid of £100million in the hope of it being reconsidered.

They are unwilling to raise their bid as Coutinho would be ineligible to play for them in the Champions League if he signed.

Milner not fo sale

08.30: Liverpool are preparing to fend off all offers for James Milner in the upcoming January transfer window.

Milner has been a bit-part figure at Anfield this term, making only his third start of the season in the 7-0 win over Maribor in midweek.

However, The Telegraph claim this is not a sign he can leave the club and Jurgen Klopp has reportedly assured him he still has a vital role to play.

The former England international is said to have attracted attention from Leicester who attempted to sign him in the summer.

Origi future unclear

08.00: Divock Origi has revealed he has had no contact with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp since joining Wolfsburg on loan in the summer.

When asked if he had heard from the German, Origi replied: “ He is focused on Liverpool, and I am focused on my task here.

And the winger admitted he was uncertain whether he still had a future at Anfield, despite being under contract with the Reds until June 2019.

“I must focus on myself. The future will show what happens. You never know in football,” he added.
