Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be benched for Manchester United's clash with Huddersfield

Manchester United take on Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium (3pm) with Jose Mourinho’s side looking to maintain their unbeaten run this season.

However, the Manchester Evening News claim Mkhitaryan could be on the bench.

Reports yesterday suggested Mkhitaryan wasn’t in the match day squad when he wasn’t spotted arriving at the Lowry Hotel with the rest of the squad.

However, he did eventually arrive at their pre-match base after staying behind at Carrington.

Marcus Rashford could start in his place but the England international hobbled off injured in midweek.

However, he has recovered from his knock and is available for selection.

Mkhitaryan could now be in line for a rest today with Mourinho keeping an eye on a busy fixture list ahead.

United face Swansea in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday before welcoming Tottenham to Old Trafford on Saturday.

They then play Benfica in the Champions League in midweek before Jose Mourinho returns to his former stmping ground to take on Chelsea.

And the Portuguese boss is well aware of the need to rotate his players to keep them refreshed and able to compete across all competitions.
