The 28-year-old underwent knee surgery at the end of last season and he isn’t expected to return to action until the New Year.

Reus’ crippling injury problems saw him miss the World Cup 2014 and Euro 2016.

Reports earlier this month indicated the Gunners are monitoring the winger.

With Alexis Sanchez increasingly likely to leave, the north London outfit want to bring in a world-class replacement.

And according to German paper Bild, the Gunners and Manchester United are monitoring his situation.

The report says the move would be a view to landing the player in January.

Jose Mourinho tried to strengthen in the wide areas over the summer, but saw a move for Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic stall.

The Portuguese tactician has also looked at as a potential option, as he seeks to reunite with the player who he previously worked with at Real Madrid.

United meanwhile secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Swansea.
