Alexis Sanchez: Man City to get revenge over Arsenal by NOT signing him in January

MANCHESTER CITY will not press ahead with a move for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez in January, according to reports.

Alexis Sanchez appears to avoid shaking Wenger's hand

Sanchez came very close to joining City over the summer, but the Gunners pulled the plug on a deadline day deal as they were left with very little time to sign his replacement Thomas Lemar.

City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to reunite with the Chilean, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Along with Sanchez, Arsenal appear to be resigned to losing Mesut Ozil, who is in the same position as his team-mate.

And according to the Sunday Mirror, City will not try to land Sanchez for a cut-price fee when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Previous reports had suggested the Premier League leaders would be able to sign the 28-year-old for as little as £20million.

But the Mirror suggest City are still furious with the Gunners’ approach to negotiations for Sanchez in August.

City, it is reported, will now bide their time and wait until next summer to resurrect their interest.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been mooted as a potential destination for Sanchez, and last month, they were supposedly keen to give him a huge signing-on fee to join in January.

Arsenal meanwhile continued their resurgence with a come-from-behind win over Swansea yesterday.

Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey supplied the finishes in a 2-1 victory at the Emirates to leave Arsenal in fifth spot, just a point off the top four.
