Man Utd news: I wouldn’t want Jose Mourinho managing Liverpool - Steve McManaman

JOSE MOURINHO has been criticised once again for the style of play he has adopted at Manchester United in recent weeks.

This time it’s by former Liverpool star Steve McManaman, who claims Mourinho’s sides just aren’t entertaining enough.

Manchester United battled to an impressive 1-0 win over Tottenham yesterday to stay within five points of Manchester City at the top of the table.

It was their eighth clean sheet in 10 Premier League games this season but it was a much needed three points after a shock defeat to Huddersfield last weekend.

A fortnight ago Mourinho came under heavy scrutiny from pundits and former players for his defensive approach in United’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

And McManaman wouldn’t be happy as a fan if he saw his team’s manager deploying such tactics to get results.

“I have an issue while he is managing Manchester United,” McManaman told BT Sport.

“If he was managing Liverpool and playing the way he’s doing, I wouldn’t be happy.

“You can’t just go back and say ‘we won three points’. I want to be entertained.”

United are still the league’s second top scorers, behind City who have been ruthless in front of goal with 35 goals - 13 more than United.

They return to Champions League action this week when they face Benfica who are yet to win in Europe this season, and United could book their place in the knockout stages if results go their way.
