MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho feels he has been unfairly treated in recent weeks by media and supporters.

Allardyce puzzled by Man Utd fans' anger at Mourinho's tactics

That is according to Sky Sports pundit and Manchester United legend Gary Neville.

Mourinho’s side are currently second in the Premier League, five points behind rivals Manchester City.

But the Portuguese’s style of play in his side’s recent outings has been questioned, especially in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Following the 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday at Old Trafford, Mourinho shushed towards the TV camera that tracked his handshake with Spurs counterpart Mauricio Pochettino.

Neville believes Jose Mourinho did that just to remind fans that he knows what he is doing and that it has worked for him in the past.

“I think it’s a man who feels as though he’s being unfairly attacked probably in the last couple of weeks,” Gary Neville said on Monday Night Football.

“That was him saying ‘I told you so, keep your mouths shut’.

“That is an outstanding record not to lose at home for 36 matches, I have to say.”

Manchester United are back in Champions League action tomorrow when they host Benfica (7.45pm).
