Man Utd news: Mauricio Pochettino replacing Jose Mourinho discussed by Guillem Balague

Manchester United have enjoyed a fine start to the season, winning seven of their first Premier League games and clocking up three victories from three in the Champions League.

But recent comments made by Mourinho has seen his Old Trafford future plunged into uncertainty, with the 54-year-old confirming he has no desire to see out his managerial career with the club.

He also suggested that he would be open to managing PSG, at a time where Unai Emery's future at the Parc des Princes is also up in the air.

However, Balague thinks Manchester United have no hope of bringing Pochettino in - with the Argentine seemingly happy to be at Tottenham for the long term.

"Why is there an obsession about talking post-Spurs?" Balague told Sky Sports when asked if Pochettino could take up the United job. 

"Are you not listening to what the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Pochettino are saying? 

"Everybody is saying this is a project they are excited about."

Meanwhile, Pochettino reckons Tottenham were unlucky to lose to Mourinho's men at the weekend.

Anthony Martial came off the bench to slot past Hugo Lloris and give United a vital three points.

But Pochettino thinks Spurs deserved something from the game.

"I'm very disappointed," he said. "It is very painful for our players, for everyone.

"I think it was an even match. We lose in an action that should have been fixed before. I think it's very painful but that is football and I feel very proud.

"The effort was fantastic. The performance can always be better, but I think we compete and we fight a lot.

"Yes, disappointed but now keep going, move on."

United are next in action this evening when they face Benfica in the Champions League (7.45pm).

Pochettino, meanwhile, will see his side lock horns with Real Madrid at Wembley tomorrow night.
