Kante relief

13:30: N’Golo Kante has expressed his delight at making a successful return from injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester United.

He said: “It was a long time for me to be with the medical staff to treat my injury.

“I’m am happy to be back in a winning way and I thank everyone for their support.

“Being out for so long can be difficult for a returning player and Kante is no different.

“I need more confidence because when you play after this injury, you have some fear. But with one week training, and this game, I am more confident but I’m fine now.”

Luiz rightly dropped - Wilkins

12.30: Chelsea manager Antonio Conte made the right decision in dropping David Luiz against Manchester United yesterday, says Ray Wilkins.

Wilkins says Luiz has not been playing well enough of late and deserved to be left out of the team.

“I thought the decision to drop Luiz yesterday was the right decision,” he said on Sky Sports.

“I saw him play against Roma on Wednesday night, he didn’t look anywhere near it the other night in Rome and that was a poor performance.”

Morata injury warning

11:30: Chelsea have been told to manage Alvaro Morata carefully to ensure he gets through the season.

He told BBC Sport: “Chelsea will need to wrap Morata in cotton wool in order to get him through a Premier League season.

“Fixtures during the Christmas and New Year periods can make or break a team, not to mention a player's form, and Morata looks more like a thoroughbred stallion than a Hereford bull.

“That said, Conte is no pushover and his response to leaving David Luiz, arguably his best player last season, out of the line-up against United, proves he is in no mood to take any nonsense from any of his players and expects complete and total commitment from everyone regardless of their perceived status.

“I think Morata is a very different personality to Luiz, but if Conte wants to win the title that already appears to be slipping away, he has to manage all his players all the time regardless of their personality.”

Conte slammed

11:00: Antonio Conte has been accused of a lack of dignity after failing to shake Jose Mourinho’s hand following Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Ray Wilkins told Sky Sports: “Of course they should (shake hands) because that’s the way the game is played.

“Obviously you’re enemies when the game is on, but when the game is finished, you go over and you shake the guy’s hand.

“He should because the game is finished, the game’s done and dusted.

“Manchester United vs Chelsea, shake his hand, all done and dusted and then go and celebrate with your players if you wish to do so.

“I thought Antonio Conte should have shown a little bit more dignity at the end of the game and gone and shook Mourinho’s hand.”

Meunier revelation

1030: Paris Saint Germain defender Thomas Meunier has revealed he turned down a move to Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window.

"I was expecting PSG to sign another right-back, but didn't foresee them getting Dani Alves," he told Eleven Sports.

"I didn't know what to think. Was I going to remain on the subs' bench all the time?

"I could have left for Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window. But I didn't want to join them.

"I am happy at PSG and I don't want to leave. I want to become their first-choice right-back between now and the end of the season.

"Professionally, things could not be better for me. I am free from injury, and I am playing for arguably the best team in the world right now."
