Chiefs expect Mourinho departure

21:50: Old Trafford directors are reportedly fearful Jose Mourinho WILL quit Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Mourinho was disgruntled by the club's failure to land Ivan Perisic over the summer and has since talked up the Ligue 1 giants.

That was thought to be a tactic aimed at earning a significant raise on his current salary of £15m a year.

The Sun say United suits now reckon Mourinho is planning to move when he current campaign draws to a close though.

The newspaper are citing the Red Devils' inability to compete with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City as the main reason Mourinho wants out.

Deschamps backs Mourinho move

19:08: France boss Didier Deschamps believes Jose Mourinho would suit managing in France.

The Manchester United boss has been linked with a move to PSG in recent weeks and Deschamps can see it happening in the future.

“PSG is the most stand-out team in France, they are doing well nationally and in the Champions League,” he said.

“He (Mourinho) is pretty happy at Man United at the moment - but why not? He’s a bit of a globe-trotter and he hasn’t been to France yet.”

Mikel’s Fergie snub

15:22: John Obi MIkel has lifted the lid on the “surreal” transfer saga which saw Manchester United and Chelsea battle for his signature back in 2005.

The Red Devils announced they had reached an agreement with Norwegian side Lyn for the then 18-year-old midfielder but a move fell through and he joined Chesea.

“It was surreal,” Mikel told The Sun.

“I was at school, but had Chelsea and Manchester United, two of the world’s biggest clubs trying to sign me.

“I’ll never forget that second meeting with Sir Alex. I’d signed a deal at United but had to tell him: ‘Sorry, I want to play for Chelsea.’”

Embalo deal done

12.30: Manchester United have agreed a deal with Benfica for wonderkid Umaro Embalo, according to reports in Portugal.

The Red Devils attempted to sign the 16-year-old in the summer for £4million and Portuguese newspaper Record claim the deal is now over the line.

The report says Jose Mourinho and super-agent Jorge Mendes have played a big role in getting him to Old Trafford.

And he will slot into the Red Devils’ youth ranks after impressing in Benfica’s academy this term, scoring five times in 12 appearances.

£22m Pellegrini targeted

08.00: Manchester United and Chelsea are both showing interest in Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to reports in Italy.

Pellegrini has been a standout player for Roma this season, settling quickly at the Stadio Olimpico following his summer move from Sassuolo.

And Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim United, Chelsea and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping tabs on him.

The Premier League duo have reportedly been encouraged by Pellegrini’s affordable £22million release clause.

Jose Mourinho PSG concern

07:00: Manchester United chiefs are reportedly growing increasingly worried that Jose Mourinho will jump ship and take charge of Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports emerged earlier this week French giants PSG had got in touch to establish whether he would be potentially interested in managing them.

The Portuguese tactician already has close links with PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique, having previously worked alongside him at Porto.

And The Sun claim that while Mourinho’s camp is not concerned about the PSG interest, sources close to the club are “alarmed” at the way he has been flirting with them.

As far as United’s board is concerned, they believe Mourinho feels he can’t sufficiently compete with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester United, who remain unbeaten in the Premier League this term.

Mesut Ozil demand

06:30: Arsenal are holding out for £30million to let Mesut Ozil leave in January, reports claim.

Recent reports have suggested Ozil’s camp are of the belief that United will try to sign the 29-year-old.

Other reports have emerged that Ozil will only stay at the Emirates providing he gets his hands on the No.10 shirt which is currently worn by Jack Wilshere.

And now according to the Daily Star, the north London outfit want £30m for Ozil AND Sanchez, with the latter constantly linked with a move to Manchester City.

Mourinho would have no problems registering Ozil for the Champions League, as he is not cup tied with Arsenal competing in the Europa League.

Marcus Rashford claim

06:00: Ashley Young has hailed his Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford.

He has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Old Trafford.

This season, Rashford has regularly started alongside summer signing Romelu Lukaku, and he has weighed in with seven goals in all competitions.

And Young isn’t surprised by how quickly Rashford has progressed at United.

“I think the manager is having to drag him off the training pitch every day because he is just wanting to better himself,” Young said.

“It's refreshing to see a kid like that just wanting to get to the top.”

Arthur Melo battle

05:30: United are preparing to battle Chelsea, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the signature of Arthur Melo, according to reports.

Mourinho has apparently asked his scouts keep a close eye on the midfielder.

Melo currently plies his trade with Brazilian top division outfit Gremio.

And he has made 19 appearances since breaking into the first team in 2015.

But United face fierce competition for the 21-year-old.

The Daily Mail are reporting that all four European heavyweights have had Melo watched in recent months.
