Arsenal defender Gabriel has joined La Liga outfit Valencia for £11million after just two seasons at the Emirates Stadium

The Brazilian, who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract in Spain, joined Arsenal from Villarreal for £15m in 2015 but has failed to hold down a regular place for the Premier League outfit.

He turned out 64 times over the course of the two seasons, but was often used as back-up by Arsene Wenger.

Gabriel made only 15 Premier League starts last season as Wenger's side won the FA Cup but missed out on the top four.

The Gunners recruited Sead Kolasinac from Schalke this summer, who can be deployed either centrally or on the left-hand side of defence, meaning the Brazilian had fallen further down the pecking order.

Wenger is keen to further streamline his 32-man squad with Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere also expected to go.

Gabriel, 26, becomes the third player to leave the north London club this summer, following the exits of Yaya Sanogo to Toulouse and Wojciech Szczesny to Juventus.
