Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich if they replicate 'vital' Manchester United performance, believes Arsene Wenger

Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich if they play the way they did against Manchester United on Sunday, Arsene Wenger has said.

The Gunners will play the German champions home and away in their next two Champions League games in a 13-day spell that could end their hopes in the competition.

Bayern have been in imperious form this season, winning all 11 games they have played and scoring 39 goals in the process.

But despite the dominance of Pep Guardiola's side this campaign, Wenger said that his players could overcome the German outfit with a repeat of Sunday's 3-0 demolition of United at the Emirates.

'You mean how to beat the unbeatable? First of all, by doing exactly what we have done against Manchester United,' Wenger told beIN Sports.

'Playing at a huge pace and by playing with the same belief and by not letting them dictate the game.

'Bayern likes to have the ball, they like to get you back and so we have to win the ball well and be very well-organised and to use our opportunities to go forward with the maximum pace.'

Arsenal have had a nightmare start to their Champions League campaign with defeats against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos leaving them bottom of Group F.

But Wenger is hoping their first Premier League win over Manchester United since 2011 can be a springboard to success.

'The United game was significant on two fronts,' he said. 'First of all, we had a very disappointing result three days before against Olympiacos and of course that was a huge shock, and secondly it was for us an opportunity to get two points behind the leader, level with Manchester United.

'We also beat them, and on top of that, the third, in recent years we have not beaten United in Championship so on three fronts it was a vital win for us.'
