Mesut Ozil has become ‘absolutely unbelievable’ as Arsene Wenger claimed the time was right for him to take a break while revealing Alexis Sanchez could be ready for a return.
The German enjoyed some downtime this week ahead of Monday night’s clash against Manchester City at the Emirates.
Ozil has 13 assists to his name already and has Thierry Henry’s Premier League record of 20 firmly in his sights.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed German star Mesut Ozil as an 'unbelievable player'
Wenger believes Ozil deserved a short holiday after picking up 13 assists in 16 games for the Gunners
And Wenger had no problem with the short holiday.
‘Ozil is a main provider for us and in the league. Players who can make you score are very difficult to find and have something special,’ Wenger said.
‘People forget that he is an exceptional fighter. He covers a lot of distance. He’s become an absolutely unbelievable player.’
Sanchez is desperate to play against City after missing Arsenal’s last three games with a hamstring injury sustained at Norwich last month.

Wenger said they would leave it late before deciding whether to risk the Chilean.
‘Maybe there is a very slight chance for Sanchez to be in the squad again but it’s too early to be sure. He’s running but not participating in full training,’ he added.
‘I believe that it’s normal for a player to be keen to play. He respects all the decisions I make.
‘First of all you know the players, their physiological profile and you take that into account, then you get your scientific advice and trust your gut feeling as well.
‘It’s a compliment - you want everybody to play. We have shown recently that we have a fantastic mentality. These players are something special.’
