Manchester City agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur to bring Kyle Walker into the club for £54million on Thursday evening, while Chelsea are on the cusp of sealing Tiemoue Bakayoko's arrival.

Both of their moves could be sealed by the end the day.

Aston Villa announced on Friday that Sam Johnstone has signed on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The goalkeeper spent six months with Villa last campaign after joining in January 2017, making 22 appearances.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: 'Shinji feels a very strong connection to this club, the city and our fans.'

The re-elected chairman of the Culture, Media & Sport select committee, Damian Collins, has called for a parliamentary review in the wake of the scandal, for which the Reds have been banned from signing English academy players for two years and fined £100,000.

The Premier League held an investigation into a claim that the 12-year-old was offered a forbidden inducement to move from the Potters last summer, with the serious allegation made that Liverpool reneged on an agreement to pay his school fees when they did not sign him.

DONE DEAL: Keisuke Honda joins Mexican side Pachuca

Japan attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda has joined Mexican side Pachuca, the CONCACAF Champions League holders announced on Friday, two months after leaving AC Milan as a free agent.

'I have just signed for Pachuca and I'm very happy,' Honda said in Spanish in a video on the club's Twitter feed.

The club did not disclose the details of his contract.

Honda, 31, has 86 caps for Japan, scoring 36 goals, and is the only Japanese player to score in two separate World Cups, netting in the 2010 and 2014 tournaments.

He joined Milan in January 2014 for a reported 20 million euros (£17.6 million) fee from CSKA Moscow but could not halt the decline of the Italian giants, who finished outside the top five in each of his four seasons at the San Siro.

He admitted after his last game, a 2-1 defeat at Cagliari for which he was named club captain, that his time at Milan had been a disappointment.

He said: 'Unfortunately, I could not play in the number 10 role as often as I would have liked but I never gave up and did the best I could. I approached every game and training session with all my passion.'

Adnan Januzaj has been getting advice from Olympic champion Mo Farah in a bid to put his career back on track.

Januzaj has joined Real Sociedad from Manchester United in a deal worth up to £9.8million after disappointing spells on loan at Sunderland and Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-year-old Belgian forward admits that he is not 100 per cent fit and revealed that he has been speaking to double 5,000m and 10,000m champion Farah about how to improve himself physically and mentally.

Barcelona call off pursuit of Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin

MIKE KEEGAN: Barcelona have abandoned their pursuit of Hector Bellerin after Arsenal wrote them a letter to warn them off.

Gunners officials sent a formal letter telling the Catalans to stop trying to unsettle the right back, who had been linked with a £30m move to the club he left for Arsenal at the age of 16.

And the message appears to have landed, with Barcelona now switching their attention elsewhere.

Barcelona reach agreement with Benfica for Nelson Semedo

SPENCER MORGAN: Barcelona and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nelson Semedo, pending a medical on Friday.

Spanish media reported on Thursday that the Portuguese right-back would be joining the Catalan giants for a fee in the region of £26million.

A deal for the 23-year-old could mean the end of Barca's pursuit of Arsenal's Hector Bellerin, who left the club's academy as a teenager and was reported to be their number one right-back target despite the Premier League being unwilling to sell.

DONE DEAL: Real Madrid sign Dani Ceballos from Real Betis

WILL GRIFFEE: Real Madrid have announced the signing of highly-rated Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos. 

The 20-year-old Spaniard impressed for his country at the Under-21s European Championship and has signed a six-year deal with the La Liga champions. 

Real confirmed their new man on the club website and released a statement for supporters.

Harry Arter signs new four-year deal with Bournemouth

Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter has signed a new four-year deal to extend his stay at the Premier League club until 2021, the south coast team said on Thursday.

The Republic of Ireland international joined Bournemouth from non-League side Woking in 2010 and has since scored 28 goals in 238 matches as the club progressed from the third tier of English football to top flight.

'Once I heard the club wanted to give me a new deal, it was a pretty easy decision,' the 27-year-old told the club's website.

Middlesbrough complete signing of Martin Braithwaite in £9m deal

Martin Braithwaite has completed his move from Toulouse to Middlesbrough to hand manager Garry Monk his third summer signing, the club has confirmed.

The 26-year-old Denmark striker, who can also play as a winger, has signed a four-year deal and is understood to have cost the Teessiders in the region of £9million.

A statement released via Boro's official website said: 'Garry Monk has completed his third signing of the summer after Martin Braithwaite finalised his transfer from Toulouse.

Manchester City agree £50m-plus fee with Tottenham for Kyle Walker

SIMON JONES AND SAMI MOKBEL: Kyle Walker will become the most expensive defender in the world when he joins Manchester City on Friday in a deal worth £54 million.

Walker will have a medical on Friday to seal the deal, which also breaks John Stones’s £47.5m transfer record for an English player. 

City will pay Tottenham an initial £45million plus £5m in payments across 12 months, with a further £4m based on performances. If any of those bonuses are met, it will break David Luiz’s £50m record as the most expensive defender.

Tiemoue Bakayoko to have Chelsea medical on Friday

MATT BARLOW: Chelsea have finally reached an agreement with Monaco over the transfer of Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Premier League champions will pay £40million plus add-ons for midfielder Bakayoko who is scheduled to have a medical on Friday.

Without another hitch he should be a Chelsea player by the end of the week which will be a boost for Antonio Conte and his squad before they set off on pre-season tour to China and Singapore.
