Manchester United came up against LA Galaxy in their first match in this season's International Champions Cup.
Jose Mourinho gave £75million signing Romelu Lukaku a chance to impress following his move from Everton.
Defender Victor Lindelof was also brought on in the second half as United won 5-2.
Relive the action as it happened with Sportsmail's TOM FARMERY.
Solely consolation but Jose will see that as being sloppy. Dos Santos gets the final flick on a header and directs the ball past Joel Pereira.
Some sort of response from the Galaxy. Giovani dos Santos finishes cleverly and calmly past Joel Pereira. Galaxy fans celebrate that one as though they've won the game.
And that completes the haul. Lukaku again used his strength to find off defenders, which created space for Anthony Martial in the Galaxy area and he was able to fire past Kempl.
He's deserved a goal since coming on. His application and work rate has been superb. He was very patient in that move too. Lukaku allowed the ball to roll in the Galaxy penalty area before Mkhitaryan slotted past Kempl. A sumptuous finish.
65min: Lovely play from Mkhitaryan and Lukaku. Change of pace was frightening. Lukaku, not wanting to waste the ball, plays a simple ball to the Armenian who tries a shot but it is blocked. Mkhitaryan has definitely replaced Mata in terms of causing problems. Galaxy can't handle him when he sprints forward. Seconds later Victor Lindelof fires over when presented with an open goal.
56min: Interesting to note that Paul Pogba is wearing the captain's armband in this second half. All quite flat currently. Galaxy beginning to scrap a little bit more but they have to be wary of the counter. Meanwhile, Ashley Cole has just fired over with a wildly ambitious left-footed effort from outside the United area.
51min: Lukaku making an impact straight away. Hustle and bustle from him and the LA Galaxy defenders aren't liking it. He's just had an effort saved by Kempl. Galaxy full back Ashley Cole is having to defend well up against Anthony Martial too.
United get us back underway... 11 changes have been made... Lukaku is on
CHRIS WHEELER: 'Big round of applause for Romelu Lukaku as he climbs off the bench to warm up with Paul Pogba and the rest of the subs. At this rate, United will be able to make as many changes as they like and still coast to victory against a poor Galaxy side.'
43min: Chance for first half hat-trick for Rashford. One-on-one with Kempl but the goalkeeper gets down low enough to smother the shot.
40min: Diallo pulls back Lingard. Mata stands over the free-kick. He takes with Fellaini the target. He gets outjumped but the ball comes back to Carrick who pokes the ball through to Smalling in the six-yard box but he was offside when he fired into the net.
33min: All very comfortable for United now. Lukaku must be relishing the prospect of coming on at half-time. The Galaxy defence is so badly organised and United seem to be able to unlock it at any point they want. Mata in particular has given the LA Galaxy players a tough time.
It gets even worse for LA Galaxy. There is still a long way to go here but Galaxy haven't produced anything remotely threatening. Fellaini waited the run across the goal before sweeping past Kempin into the goal.
CHRIS WHEELER: 'A flying start by United and Rashford in particular. Mourinho said it would be good to play the MLS clubs in mid-season because they would be sharper than his players but that hasn’t been the case so far. United beat the Galaxy 7-0 in 2014 – in front of a much bigger crowd of 86,500 at the Rosebowl, it has to be said – and that figure already looks a possibility again.'
23min: Mata encouraged to shoot by those around him - everyone wants a piece of the action it seems. His left-footed effort doesn't make it through to Kempin's goal as it's blocked from just inside the box.
And things just get even better for Marcus Rashford. It was Ander Herrera who won the ball back just inside the LA Galaxy half. He then passed to Mata who supplied Rashford with a ball into the penalty area and he slid it past Kempin. Assured finish. Comfortable performance this from United.
13min: Mata swings in a corner which is initially cleared before Rashford tries to threat a ball through. He can't and Galaxy break before winning a corner. Mendiola takes it but it lacks little threat and is cleared by the United defence.
6min: LA Galaxy still continuing to struggle - as if you'd expect anything else. The ball over the top to Rashford is causing the Galaxy defence issues. Goalkeeper Kempin certainly doesn't want Rashford anywhere near his goal again.
Well that didn't take long. Poor defending by Garcia inside his own box and Rashford intercepts the ball before sliding past Kempin. Perfect start for United.
LA Galaxy get this one started.
And rather bizarrely they walk out behind the goal before making their way on to the grass. Fireworks going off now. They're certainly making the most of having United at the StubHub Center in Carson.
CHRIS WHEELER: Jose Mourinho will experiment with playing three at the back against the Galaxy, giving Antonio Valencia an opportunity to play further forward on the right.
Speaking before the game, Mourinho said: ‘We will play in a system that is new for us and it’s important to see how we cope with it because it’s going to be difficult.
‘It is not going to be our main system. We are always a team that normally plays four at the back, but during the season we maybe need to do it.
‘Last season we did need to do it against Rostov at home and away, so maybe we need to adapt to some matches and pre-season is exactly for this – especially the second pre-season, which it is now.
‘We are going to try what we have been doing in training in these first few days.’
He notes: 'David Beckham is with us tonight at the stadium where he played for LA Galaxy for five seasons. He won’t be the only celebrity in the crowd either. Julia Roberts has been a regular visitor to United’s training base at UCLA this week as well as some of the British actors from Game of Thrones.'
Chris Wheeler notes: 'There aren’t too many familiar names in the Galaxy squad besides Ashley Cole and former Tottenham and Barcelona midfielder Giovani dos Santos, who both start on the bench. I’m looking forward to seeing Bradford Jamieson IV in action. What does the ref write down if he gets booked?'
Chris Wheeler writes: 'New signing Romelu Lukaku is on the bench but, then again, so is every United player not in the starting line-up. All 14 of them. They’ve had to bring out an extra bench to fit them all in. Lukaku is not so well known out here that LA Galaxy staff spelled his name right. He’s down on the teamsheet as Romelu.'
Chris Wheeler writes: 'Mourinho is out early, sitting on the long row of seats reserved for United pitchside chatting to one of the club staff. The StubHub Center is filling up very slowly in the early evening sunshine. Some of the 27,000 tickets remained unsold earlier today – probably those on sale at nearly £400 – but there should still be a healthy crowd for the game.'
United manager Jose Mourinho says he is 'not looking for anything extraordinary' from his players against LA Galaxy.
Chris Wheeler has also been in contact from the Stubhub Center. He writes: 'A strong starting line-up for United’s first game of their US tour at the StubHub Center in Carson: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata, Rashford.'
You're doing very well indeed if you've managed to stay up for this one. It is, of course, the beginning of Manchester United's tour of the US. It also marks the start of the poxy International Champions Cup.
What may make this one more interesting is it will be the first time we will see Romelu Lukaku as a United player.
