Ross Barkley catching the eye of Chelsea and Manchester United with Everton star's future still up in the air
- There are questions over whether Ross Barkley will ever play again for Everton
- Barkley has entered final 12 months of his contract and also has a groin injury
- Tottenham are among the other teams to have an interest in the midfielder
- He is furious with suggestions that he has asked Spurs for £150,000 per week
Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring Ross Barkley's position at Everton with the final weeks of the transfer window likely to see a scramble for his signature.
The England international is currently sidelined with a groin problem and there are questions over whether he will kick another ball in public for his boyhood club; Barkley has entered the final 12 months of his deal and won't sign another contract.
Tottenham have held a long-standing interest in the 23-year-old, with manager Mauricio Pochettino a firm admirer of Barkley, while Arsenal also have an interest in the midfielder.

It is understood he is furious with suggestions he has asked Tottenham for £150,000 a week
It was reported on Wednesday that Barkley has asked Tottenham to make him their top earner but it is understood that he is furious with the suggestions that he has made such a demand and sources close to the player have described it as 'complete nonsense' that he has asked for £150,000 per week.
Barkley's first priority is to get fit again before he begins to think about what the future holds and he is aware of how big the new campaign will be for him, as he strives to become a consistent top level performer capable of regularly transforming games.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has refused to answer questions about Barkley in pre-season
With Everton having signed Ajax captain Davy Klaassen and pursuing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea - a saga that is still some way from reaching a conclusion - it appears that Barkley's opportunities at Goodison Park will be limited under Ronald Koeman, who has so far refused to answer questions about the academy graduate this pre-season.
Everton, who face FC Twente in their second pre-season fixture on Wednesday night, have placed a valuation of £50million on Barkley but, as yet, they have not received any offers.
That, however, is expected to change in the coming weeks with Chelsea and Manchester United seeking to add depth to their groups with the added appeal that he is a young English player.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is a target for Koeman, who has been busy so far in the summer window
