DOMINIC KING: Liverpool's record-breaking pursuit of Naby Keita is over for this summer after they accepted RB Leipzig are unwilling to do business.
Jurgen Klopp had targeted the Guinea international as being someone who would provide drive and dynamism to his midfield and was prepared to back his judgement in the player with the biggest transfer outlay in Liverpool’s history.
Liverpool had an initial bid of £57million at the start of this month rebuffed by Leipzig, who put up barriers from the outset when it became apparent that Klopp wanted to take Keita to the Premier League.
Monaco have slapped a €200million (£179m) price tag on Kylian Mbappe, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Mbappe has been heavily linked with Real Madrid but Monaco are determined to hold on their prize asset after letting a number of other players leave this summer.
The 18-year-old forward has also attracted the attention of PSG and Manchester City after scoring 26 goals in all competitions last season.
Former West Brom manager Gary Megson has returned for his second spell at the Hawthorns.
Current Baggies boss Tony Pulis has appointed Megson as his assistant head coach ahead of the new Premier League season.
Megson enjoyed four years in charge of West Brom in which he twice guided the club to the top-flight of English football.
Javier Hernandez is confident he can become the prolific goalscorer West Ham United need as he gave his first news conference on Friday since joining from Bayer Leverkusen.
The club's fourth major signing of the close-season after goalkeeper Joe Hart, defender Pablo Zabaleta and forward Marko Arnautovic is arguably the most important as manager Slaven Bilic looks to improve on last season's lack of goals.
No player reached double figures and West Ham finished 11th in the Premier League.
WILL GRIFFEE: Borussia Dortmund's prolific striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang staying at the club is essential, according to captain Marcel Schmelzer.
The Gabon international topped the Bundesliga scoring charts last season with 31 goals and has been continually linked with a move away from Westfalenstadion.
But his importance to Dortmund has never been in question and Schmelzer was full of praise for the 28-year-old who looks set to remain with his current side.
Lucas Perez could be edging closer to the Arsenal exit door after his agent claimed former club Deportivo La Coruna have tabled a bid for the forward.
The 28-year-old moved to the Emirates Stadium from Spain last August for a fee reported to be in the region of £17million.
However, Perez has found his chances severely limited, starting just twice in the Premier League and making nine starts in total.
BEN GROUNDS: Dani Alves has denied that he has spoken to his former Barcelona team-mate Neymar about a move to Paris Saint-Germain, claiming that he talks with his compatriot about everything other than football.
The former Juventus full-back took to Twitter to deny claims made by Mundo Deportivo director Santi Nolla, who said that Neymar changes his views on a move away from the Nou Camp based whether he speaks to Lionel Messi or Alves.
The 34-year-old right-back responds to Nollas's quote: 'Lies. I don't have to convince anyone on anything. When I speak with him, I speak of anything but football. I am happy if he is happy.'
DANIEL MATTHEWS: AC Milan will have to take their summer spending beyond £250million if they want to sign striker Andrea Belotti, Torino manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has warned.
The striker, who had been linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea earlier in the transfer window, has a €100million (£89.5m) release clause on his current deal.
Milan have already spent £160m on new recruits this summer, signing the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Conti in a bid to regain a place at Europe's top table.
MATT SMITH: Sergio Romero may be kept out of the regular Manchester United team by David de Gea, but he still wants the goalkeeper to stay at Old Trafford.
Romero was United's regular No 1 in their Europa League triumph last season, but regularly has to sit on the bench while De Gea starts in goal.
While De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, however, Romero wants his friend to remain at Old Trafford.
ALEX MARTIN: Claudio Bravo says Manchester City are ready to welcome Alexis Sanchez to the club with 'open arms' should he manage to agitate his way out of Arsenal this summer.
The forward has entered the last year of his contract at the Emirates and has set his sights on a reunion with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, with whom he played under at Barcelona.
While Arsenal have so far refused to entertain the idea of selling their star player to a Premier League rival, Sanchez's Chile international team-mate Bravo has reassured him that the door will remain open.
Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker has signed a four-year deal with Bristol City.
Baker returns for his second spell with the Robins, having spent the 2015-16 season on loan at Ashton Gate.
SAMI MOKBEL: Southampton will target Kevin Wimmer if they lose Virgil van Dijk this summer.
The Saints have so far refused to sanction Van Dijk's exit this summer, despite the Holland international’s wish to leave St Mary’s.
Nevertheless, the Van Dijk camp remain hopeful that the central defender will eventually be allowed to leave the south coast this summer - with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City prepared to make huge bids.
CRAIG HOPE: Newcastle have signed Spain Under-21 midfielder Mikel Merino from Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan.
Sportsmail understands the deal includes an obligation to buy the 21-year-old next summer.
Merino only joined Dortmund from Osasuna last year but became unsettled after making just eight league appearances and is now excited at the prospect of a new challenge under compatriot Rafa Benitez in the Premier League.
SAMI MOKBEL: Monaco have rejected Arsenal’s latest £50million offer for winger Thomas Lemar, after Sportmail revealed that the Gunners would submit a third offer for the France international.
The bid has been turned down by the Ligue 1 club as they look to keep hold of Lemar, one of their remaining star men.
Monaco chiefs insisted earlier this week that the 21-year-old is not for sale, despite the fact the French club have seen host of their top players leave this summer.
Barcelona are resigned to losing Neymar this summer, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a record-breaking move to Paris Saint-Germain and the Catalan club are already looking for his replacement.
Marca claim Barcelona will hold out for the full value of Neymar's buyout clause - £195m.
CRAIG HOPE: Middlesbrough have taken their summer spending past £40million with the £6.5m arrival of striker Ashley Fletcher from West Ham.
New manager Garry Monk has splashed out more than £30m on a new forward line in the past fortnight alone, Fletcher following on from the £15m club-record signing of Britt Assombalonga and the £9m addition of Martin Braithwaite.
Fletcher, 21, has penned a four-year deal at the Riverside Stadium having passed a medical and agreed personal terms at the club’s Rockliffe Park training ground on Thursday.
MATTHEW SMITH AND PETE JENSON: Neymar has stormed out of Barcelona training as his exit from the Spanish giants appears to move closer.
In an exclusive video obtained by Sportsmail, the Brazilian international walks off the pitch after a fight with new Barca signing, Nelson Semedo.
Neymar has been linked with a world-record move to Paris Saint Germain, and his walkout now looks to make that move even more likely.
MATT BARLOW: Inter Milan have requested Anthony Martial on loan in an attempt to reach an agreement with Manchester United for Ivan Perisic.
Jose Mourinho is keen on Perisic and the Croatia winger wants the move to Old Trafford but United have been unwilling to match the £45m valuation.
Talks have stalled but the deal is not yet dead and, in an attempt to find a solution, Inter have asked to take Martial on loan for a year to offset part of the difference.
The surge in transfer spending could make the job of a Premier League manager increasingly difficult, former England boss Sam Allardyce has said.
English top-flight clubs have already spent over £850million in the current transfer window and will likely top last year's £1.165billion before the deadline on August 31.
But Allardyce claims that big spending does not necessarily lead to an equivalent improvement in a playing squad.
The Premier League has set the pace of a frenzied summer of spending with Manchester United and Chelsea sealing deals for Romelu Lukaku (£75m) and Alvaro Morata (£70.6m) respectively.
But clubs on the continent have been splashing the cash too. And if PSG's move for Neymar comes off and Barcelona convince Liverpool to part with Philippe Coutinho then each both clubs will break their own transfer record.
But what are the transfer records at the big clubs across Europe?
MATT BARLOW: Antonio Conte will try to inject more British blood into his squad by stepping up interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley.
The England internationals are both into the final year of their contracts and set to move this summer.
Arsenal winger Oxlade-Chamberlain has been the subject of interest from Liverpool. Chelsea are also considering a move although they have yet to make any formal approach as they weigh up other targets.
MATT BARLOW: Antonio Conte has asked Carlo Ancelotti about the future of Renato Sanches and declared an interest in the teenager.
Conte and Ancelotti spoke about Sanches after Bayern Munich beat Chelsea 3-2 in a friendly in Singapore on Tuesday when the Portugal international performed well.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the exchange had taken place when asked by Italian reporters about AC Milan's pursuit of the Bayern midfielder.
MATT BARLOW: Antonio Conte told Barcelona to forget about Eden Hazard as they line up potential replacements for Neymar.
Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho is top of Barca's list if leaves for Paris Saint-Germian.
And Hazard, long since linked with a move to Real Madrid, has emerged as another option according to reports in Spain.
CHRIS WHEELER: Zinedine Zidane put Manchester United on alert by saying he may not be able to keep Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.
Bale’s future at the Bernabeu is in doubt once again as the European champions try to complete a world record £160million deal for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.
It’s understood that Real boss Zidane may have to sacrifice Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema or Bale to make room for Mbappe — with the Welshman favourite to go.
We're edging closer to the final month of the transfer window and things are certainly starting to hot up!
Manchester United have been linked with Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, while their bitter rivals Liverpool deny Philippe Coutinho has handed in a transfer request, with Barcelona looming.
It promising to be another day of exciting transfer action so stick with us as we continue to bring you all the gossip and completed deals from at home and abroad.
