Ivan Perisic remains focused in training with Inter Milan as Italian giants eye Manchester United forward Anthony Martial as part of swap deal

Manchester United target Ivan Perisic trained in high spirits with Inter Milan on Friday, despite his immediate future being very much still up in the air.

The Croatian is a long-term target for Jose Mourinho's side this summer, though all advances to bring him to Old Trafford have so far failed.

Inter initially put up all barriers when it came to the potential transfer of the 28-year-old, insisting they wanted to keep hold of their prized assets as they bid to climb back to the summit of European football.Ā

But the Italian side appeared to have mellowed somewhat on their stance, and are considering the option of taking Anthony Martial from the Red Devils in part exchange.

United have been unwilling to meet the Ā£45m asking price of the Italians, but Inter have now looked into the possibility of Martial travelling in the opposite direction on loan.

Talks regarding the move have stalled, but Inter feel a switch for Martial - on a year long basis - would offset part of the difference in cost.

Martial has not fulfilled his potential in Manchester since a big-money move from Monaco two years ago.

Wolfsburg have also made an enquiry about the France international striker, who scored four goals in 25 Premier League appearances last season.

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti said of United's move for his player: 'There is no fixed date to when he will stay or go but we all know what happened. There were conversations we had. Nothing happened since then.Ā

'My intention is for Perisic to stay at the club and I will try in every possible way for him to stay and be part of the team.'
