Both of the newlyweds come from a Kosovo-Albanian family and the pair met during Xhaka's time with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The combative midfielder will target silverware this season and has already whetted the appetite for a trophy, winning the Emirates Cup in pre-season.

Despite losing to Sevilla 2-1 the hosts lifted the prize as a result of goals scored with Xhaka featuring for Arsene Wenger's men as a substitute.

The 24-year-old will be hoping his domestic bliss can be mirrored by his on-field performances next term.
