Theo Walcott may be facing a definitive season at Arsenal, but he showed Arsene Wenger he is brave enough for the challenge after holding a snake around his neck at a recent family event.

The 28-year-old looked unfazed by the prospect of letting a boa constrictor slither around his neck despite their infamous reputation for using their incredible strength to strangle their prey.

It was all part of a day of fun for the Arsenal players and their children, and Walcott's young son Finley showed he takes after his father by getting up close and personal with the scary serpent as well.

Cheeky Arsenal fans took the chance to have a pop at some of their previous stars, suggesting Walcott was hanging out with Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Ashley Cole, all of whom remain unpopular at the Emirates after forcing moves away.

Fortunately, there were some friendlier faces for Walcott and his son to hang out with including the universally popular Arsenal mascot Gunnersaurus and superhero Spiderman.

It was the last chance for the Arsenal players to unwind ahead of the start of the new season, which will kick off this weekend with a Community Shield clash against Chelsea at Wembley.

Last season's FA Cup winners will be looking to lift the curtain-raising prize for the third time in four years while Wenger will be keen to strike an early blow over Premier League title rival Antonio Conte.

Walcott, who spent a large amount of time on the bench last season, will have to show more than bravery if he is to break back into Wenger's starting XI with new signing Alexandre Lacazette further adding to the competition in attack.
