  • Zinedine Zidane has responded to speculation regarding Gareth Bale's future
  • Jose Mourinho added fuel to the fire recently saying he wanted the winger
  • Mourinho claims he will be watching with interest to see if Bale plays in Skopje
  • Zidane insists Bale remains a Madrid player and the topic has been overblown

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has reiterated his stance on Gareth Bale remaining at the Bernabeu, despite Jose Mourinho's recent comments.

The Manchester United boss has made no secret of his desire to have Bale at his disposal, and recently added fuel to the fire regarding a possible summer transfer.

With little under a month remaining in the transfer window, Mourinho suggested his summer spending has not stopped yet, implying a move for Bale could be on the cards if there are signs the player will have a lack of game time in Spain.

Mourinho insists he will wait to see if Bale is picked to play in the Super Cup final in Skopje

The Manchester United manager claimed he will be watching keenly to see whether Bale plays for Real Madrid in Tuesday's Super Cup final.

Mourinho believes Real want to keep the Welshman but revealed United will be front of the queue should he become available.

'If he's playing tomorrow then I wouldn't think of that [signing Bale],' Mourinho said in Macedonia,' Mourinho said this week.

'If he's playing tomorrow it's because he's in the club's plans. He has that ambition to continue in Madrid.

'I haven't even thought about the possibility. If he's not in the club plans - that what you are writing is true - with the arrival of another player, then we'll try to wait for him on the other side and fight with other coaches,' he added.

But speaking in his pre-Super Cup final press conference, Zidane has since addressed the subject of the Welshman's future.

'What’s important is that the player is feeling well. He’s had a lot of continuous training sessions with us and that’s what is important,' said Zidane.

'At the end of last season it wasn’t easy for him. He was out for four months but now he is very concentrated.

'What’s important for us isn’t what the coach said, it’s what we are going to do tomorrow.

It’s the same thing with Ronaldo, we’ve also had stories there. People seem to want to blow it up out of proportion.

'We’re concentrating on what we’re doing and that’s what is important. Bale is a Real Madrid player that’s all I can say. I want to talk about tomorrow’s match.

'We are here, him, me and all the other players and the fans are here for the match only. That stuff doesn’t interest me very much,' Zidane added.
