  • West Ham are hopeful of putting together a deal for the Portugal midfielder
  • But Sporting Lisbon are often regarded as a difficult club to negotiate with
  • Manchester City are not willing to cancel Samir Nasri's contract at the Etihad
  • Brighton want to sign Zurich striker Raphael Dwamena to bolster their options

West Ham have offered £27million for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

Sportsmail revealed the London Stadium club's interest on Wednesday and they remain hopeful of striking a deal for the 25-year-old Portugal international as he is keen on a move to London.

Sporting have proved difficult to negotiate with in the past and are holding out for closer to his reputed £39million buy-out clause but are open to a compromise as talks progress.

The Portugal international would look to command wages of around £100,000 a week.

Manchester City will not allow Samir Nasri to leave on a free transfer.

Turkish club Antalyaspor are the latest to ask about the French midfielder who is surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola.

Reports out of France had said City would be willing to cancel the 30-year-old's contract to take his salary off their wage bill but the Eastlands club still value him at £16million.

Nasri has not cut a popular figure in the City camp but they are reluctant to cut their losses completely after he showed glimpses of what he can still do while on loan at Sevilla last season and he still has two years on his contract.

Roma have considered him as an option should they fail to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester but would prefer a loan deal.

City will promote Phil Foden to the first team squad after his impressive pre-season but Jadon Sancho remains an option for Borussia Dortmund who are weighing up offers from Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele.

The French winger did not attend training at Dortmund on Thursday after the Bundesliga side had rejected Barcelona's opening offer for him.

Brighton are in talks to sign exciting Zurich striker Raphael Dwamena as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the Premier League kick-off.

The newly-promoted south coast club added £16million Club Brugge winger Jose Izquierdo on Thursday, subject to a work permit, and have agreed to sign Soufyan Ahannach from Dutch club Almere City.

The 21-year-old is a left winger who cuts in on his right foot and was in the final year of his contract.

Manager Chris Hughton, though, is pushing to add a striker too with the promising Dwamena firmly in his sights.

He only moved to Zurich in January for £250,000 but scored 14 goals in 18 games while he has two goals in three internationals for Ghana.

Zurich have turned down Brighton's opening offers but Hughton remains hopeful of a breakthrough. He has also considered Everton's Oumar Niasse and could yet return to that option towards the end of the window.

Brighton also want cover for midfielder Beram Kayal who is out for ten weeks with a broken fibula.

Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross is wanted by Burnley, Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion.

The 29-year-old has been with Stoke for ten years since joining from Manchester United and has one year left on contract.

Tottenham had scouts posted at Porto on Wednesday night as the Portuguese side kicked off their league campaign by beating Estoril 4-0.

Ricardo Pereira played for Porto at right-back, a long-time Tottenham target, but the club's £20million asking price has so far proved a deterrent.

Tottenham have been considering Benjamin Henrichs at Leverkusen and Jeremy Toljan at Hoffenheim as alternatives while they are no longer in the running for Juventus and Chelsea target Joao Cancelo at Valencia.

Monaco have made a renewed bid to sign Stoke City midfielder Gianelli Imbula.

The 24-year-old is hopeful of returning to the French league where he starred for Marseille prior to his move to Porto.

Imbula has proved a huge disappointment for Mark Hughes after he invested £18million in the former France U21 international last summer.

Monaco have offered a loan with view to making the deal permanent for £14million. Stoke would still prefer an immediate sale.

West Brom are weighing up a move for Celta Vigo midfielder Nemanja Radoja.

The 24-year-old Serbia international is a holding player who was pivotal to their campaign last year when he played 50 games as they made the Europa League semi finals before going out to Manchester United.

Albion scouts checked on him in Celta's recent friendlies alongside Tottenham target Pape Cheikh Diop.

Albion have other options and manager Tony Pulis still wants Gareth Barry from Everton to replace the experience of Darren Fletcher around the dressing room.

Barry is keen to move to play more regularly but could see his move delayed after turning his ankle in training on Wednesday. Everton would also like to have Gylfi Sigurdsson finalised before signing off any deal for Barry.
